Mission Statement

Based on the By-Laws of the Society

The German Society of Montreal was founded in 1835 to unite the members of the German community and to promote its cultural, charitable, and educational interests.
Three specific aims of the society are:

  1. To assist needy persons, regardless of their cultural or ethnic background
  2. To support German cultural institutions and initiatives and to support projects of other Canadian charitable organizations and social agencies in the Greater Montreal whose objectives are such that participation or contributions by the Society would be considered a meaningful extension of the Society's own work.
  3. To keep alive the German language and cultural heritage in Montréal, and be supportive of efforts to enhance the knowledge and appreciation of German in its diversity.
