German Society on Wikipedia

The German Society of Montreal is currently working on a project to improve and expand the Wikipedia article on the Society. We invite you to take a look at the work in progress on Wikipedia. Writing the article is a lot of work. If you would like to help or could assist us with translating the final version into the German and French versions of Wikipedia, please let us now. Every little bit can help us preserve our history.

German Roots - solid on Canadian soil

Abitur Graduation at AvH

On Friday, May 30, 2013, Dr Gisela Steinle represented the German Society at the Abitur Graduation (Grade 12) at the Alexander von Humboldt German International School (AvH). She congratulated the students in the name of the Society for having successfully completed their studies. Dr Steinle also highlighted the long cooperation between the school and the Society.

Many of the students know Dr Steinle personally as she was the vice principal of AvH until 2012.

Ratification of the revised by-laws

On April 16, 2014, the members of the Society formally ratified the revised by-laws of the German Society. This change marks the beginning of a new era for the German Society, as they will improve board efficiency and modernize decision making in the organization.

The by-laws revision was conducted by the By-Law Review commitee (Neville-Warren Cloutier and Nico Ahn) between June 2013 and January 2014. The proposed by-laws we adopted by the Board of Directors on January 14, 2014. 

German Society in transition

This week on Wednesday, the members of the Society will meet to vote on the ratification of the revised by-laws of the Society. The revision is the first change to the Society's by-laws since 1992. The proposed changes were adopted to improve the efficientcy of the Society, its board and its committees and to modernize the way the Society does business.
